Taiwan Trip Day 7: 13th Feb 2015, Friday
台湾之旅第七天:2月13日2015年, 星期五

Our last day in Taiwan. We had no time to visit other attractions. But first, the hunt for breakfast. We found a stall nearby selling riceballs. The stall-owner scooped rice out from a traditional wooden  container and added the ingredients to the rice, before rolling all of it into a riceball. We chose the pork floss riceball (NT$30). Dear loved it on the first munch and was still talking about it after we returned to Singapore. It was indeed a simple yet fulfilling choice for breakfast.

A simple menu of tea, soy milk and various types of ingredients for riceballs.

And voila! Our pork floss riceball is done.

We returned to the Sogo near our hotel to do some last minute shopping. We ended up getting Beard Papa cream puff instead. It was pretty cheap at only NT$50 per piece. Then we checked out of Royal Palace Hotel and then went to a bus stop outside Zhongxiao Fuxing Station to wait for bus 5201 to the airport. It was a bit of a mad rush for us as there was not much time left for checking in at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Luckily the bus came in time and we reached the airport just in time to be the last passengers to check in!

Who can resist some Beard Papa cream puffs?

We bought the original version for only NT$50.

Waiting for bus 5201 to get to the airport.

Finally the bus arrives.

Tickets for bus to the airport at NT$125 per pax.

Arrived at Terminal 2.

After checking in our luggage, we thought we had enough time to take a look around the airport. I saw a booth where people were making couplets for the Chinese New Year so I waited to get one. After getting it, to our horror, our boarding gate was at the extreme end of the airport! We ran like crocodiles were hot on our heels, dashing across the terminal, to the LAST boarding gate. The airport staff were frantically getting us processed to board the airplane.

As we finally reached our plane, the pilot refused to allow us entry insisting the flight was full! "How could that be? We are doomed!", we thought. After two rounds of re-calculations and clearing up the misunderstanding (the cabin crew actually miscalculated and counted us on board when we had yet to board the plane!), the pilot finally allowed us to board the plane. Phew! Lesson learnt: ALWAYS be at the airport way in advance! You never know how far your boarding gate is!

And that concluded our very adventurous trip to Taiwan in 2015. Little did we realize we would be visiting Taiwan again the following year.
